The Investment Fund committee is a working committee of ILA with the goal to perform studies on best practices in the governance of international investment funds.

Objectives of the group:

  • Lead development of the governance framework at board level for all regulated Luxembourg funds
  • Provide technical and market support for directors of Luxembourg funds
  • Liaise with respective stakeholders as needed (ALFI, CSSF etc) on behalf of the Luxembourg fund directors community
  • Implement ILA level initiatives within the fund environment as relevant
  • Ensure close interactions with ALFI initiatives

  • Frequently Asked Questions: Simple guide to Luxembourg fund directors on key practical issues related to fund governance
  • Membership drive : Amended rates & procedure, Fund-level membership entitling all directors to become members with one application

» 08.07.2010: ILA/PwC: Conference "Liquidity Risk in Funds" - PricewaterhouseCoopers, Luxembourg

The ILA Investment Funds Committee primarily seeks to help the development of the Luxembourg corporate governance framework as it impacts the directors of Collective Investment Schemes and to provide technical and market support for directors of Luxembourg UCITS and UCIs.
The Committee aims to assist Luxembourg fund directors in the discharge of their duties both through various technical seminars, as well as the production of best practice guidance. The Committee may further engage with relevant stakeholders to support the fund directors' community in areas of common concern and will seek to foster links with equivalent bodies outside Luxembourg.

» 18 & 19.03.2010: ILA/ALFI/IFBL: Seminar "Role and Responsabilities of the Directors and Managers of UCI - Centre de Formation IFBL/Chambre de Commerce, Luxembourg

Although corporate governance is at the centre of most topical debates, members of boards of directors
of undertakings for collective investment still tend to underestimate the extent of their legal, regulatory or
financial responsibilities.
How to identify and manage conflicts of interests? What are the best governance practices for UCI?
What are the roles of the service providers of the UCI? How to choose the members of a board of directors?
How to cover liability of directors?
The purpose of this seminar will be to comment on these key issues and to consider possible lines of action.

This interactive seminar includes theoretical basics, presentations by professionals and exchange between
participants, resolution of a specific corporate case.

» 17.12.2009: ILA/PwC: Annual Conference - Chambre de Commerce, Luxembourg

The Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs (ILA), the Luxembourg Institute of Directors, in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers is pleased to invite you to our annual conference providing insight and perspectives on the evolving face of fund governance in Europe and in Luxembourg.  

The event will be held on December 17, 2009 at the Chambre de Commerce du Luxembourg (7, rue Alcide de Gasperi – Luxembourg-Kirchberg) from 9h30 until 16h00, a full agenda will be submitted shortly.

This year, we are pleased to welcome a panel of leading industry participants, associations and regulators including: Stefan Seip - Chair of the German Fund association, BVI, and a member of the EFAMA working group on corporate governance, Jean-Marc Goy of the Luxembourg regulator, CSSF, and Camille Thommes of the Luxembourg Fund Association, ALFI. Stefan and Camille will provide the industry association's views on fund governance and specifically with regard to the recent EFAMA initiative. Jean-Marc will then discuss the expectations of the regulator today and going forward.  

The panel will be followed by a series of updates and discussion from industry experts covering the following areas
- Directors Liability, an update on recent developments;
- Product Innovation and implications for the Board;
- Developments in risk management and what the Board should be doing;
- Fund valuation, the challenges and the role of the Board.

A walking lunch will provide the opportunity to discuss issues with colleagues and the industry experts.

Please be informed that the conference is being offered free of charge for ILA members and at a charge of EUR 250 for non-members to be paid upon registration.
