This Coffee Chat will focus on Green IT, which refers to environmentally sustainable computing practices that aim to reduce the environmental impact of information technology. This involves designing, manufacturing, using, and disposing of computers and related products in an eco-friendly manner.

While digital technologies contribute to up to 6% of the global greenhouse gas emissions, they could also be leveraged to tackle climate change. This Coffee Chat aims to raise awareness of the challenges and opportunities of responsible digital technology, particularly at the Board level and in the context of the AI hype and the ongoing digital transformation.

Here is a summary of the topics that will be tackled:

  • Material impacts of digital technologies
    • Greenhouse gas emissions, water, biodiversity
    • Life cycle of a digital device
  • What are the levers for action for Green IT?
    • Increase the lifespan of digital devices
    • Eco-design
    • Hacks for making a website more sustainable
