Today, businesses face increasing pressure from investors, consumers, legislators, and local communities to prioritise sustainability ahead of the traditional commercial objective of maximising shareholder returns. This is a global reality, transcending geography and sector, fundamentally impacting business operations.
To navigate this environment, businesses need practical guidance. The Future of Boards project is a collaboration between DLA Piper and the Institute of Sustainable Leadership at Cambridge University (CISL). This initiative focuses on the critical role of boards in achieving sustainable outcomes and addresses the following questions:
- What are the emerging trends or changes influencing board practice and the wider legislative environment around the world?
- How aligned are these trends, and their drivers, with a sustainable future?
We invite you to join an event, co-organized by ILA and DLA Piper, to explore the project's first findings and engage in an open and unbiased discussion with directors and board members. Moderated by Mélody Brunot, Corporate Counsel at DLA Piper, and Alex Tamlyn, Chair of DLA Piper's Boardroom Counsel, this event will examine the evolving role of boards in driving sustainable business results.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Mélody Brunot, Corporate Counsel at DLA Piper and will feature Sinor Chhor, Managing Director of Nordea Investment Funds S.A., Karen Wauters, Non-Executive Director, and Alex Tamlyn. It will be followed by closing remarks by Sophie Oberg, Deputy Director of IMS and co-chair of the Sustainability Strategy Working Committee.
