PACAUD Jean-Michel

Jean-Michel has more than 30 years of experience in auditing banks and insurance companies. He started his career with Arthur Andersen in Paris, spent 5 years in Casablanca (Morocco), was promoted partner in 1998 and joined the Luxembourg office in 1999. Since the merger with Ernst & Young in 2002, he has exercised several management roles, including People Leader and Business Development Leader. From 2008 to 2013 he was the People Leader of the EMEIA FSO Assurance practice.

From 2012 to 2018, Jean-Michel has been the chairman of the Luxembourg institute of certified auditors (“Institut des Réviseurs d’Entreprises”).

His involvement in the insurance sector includes the following positions:

-          Member of the Insurance commission of the “Haut Comité de la Place Financière” (higher committee of the financial sector, chaired by minister of finance);

-          Chairman of the insurance commission of the “Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs”:

-          Member of the Accounting & reporting committee of the Commissariat aux Assurances (the Luxembourg insurance regulator).

Since 2018 he is the chairman of the board of EY Luxembourg.

Jean-Michel graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Science Economiques et Commerciales (ESSEC) and is a certified public accountant in France (“expert-comptable”) and in Luxembourg (“réviseur d’entreprises”).



Brice is an Associate Partner dedicated to the insurance industry in the field of Audit, Regulatory and Transactions.

Brice has served a wide range of Luxembourg insurance companies, including the market leaders in their respective segments.

He coordinated the Luxembourg implications for several Brexit relocation projects for insurance companies. His support was mainly in the field of regulatory, accounting, actuarial, risks and operations.

Brice is the chairperson of the Insurance Commission of the Luxembourg Institute or auditors (IRE) and member of the insurance commission of the Luxembourg institute of independent directors (ILA).

Brice holds a master degree in management and economics from Reims Management School (Neoma).

DE WAERSEGGER Pierre-Michaël

Pierre-Michaël de Waersegger is a Partner in the Insurance & Reinsurance Law practice and the Banking & Financial Services practice.

Pierre-Michaël assists insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as banks and professionals of the financial sector regarding all Luxembourg legal and regulatory aspects of their activities. It includes licencing requirements, capitalising opportunities, merger and acquisition operations, and new products and services development.

His expertise includes advising on the implementation of AML/CTF, MIFID, PSD, CRD, Solvency II and IDD regulations, the drafting and review of contractual documentation as well as contacts with the regulators.

Pierre-Michaël’s expertise also encompasses legal advice on insurance products for financial institutions, investments companies and any other type of company having a need for insurance products.

He has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2009 and was also a member of the Brussels Bar (Belgium) until 2013.

Pierre-Michaël sits at the board of various Luxembourg insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as the board of the Association Luxembourgeoise des Fonds de Pension (ALFP). He is also the legal representative in Luxembourg of Lloyd’s Insurance Company.

Pierre-Michaël de Waersegger holds a Master's degree in law from the Université Catholique de Louvain (Belgium) as well as a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in European law from the Institut des Etudes Européennes (Belgium).

MOUSEL Emmanuelle

Emmanuelle Mousel is a Counsel in both the Insurance & Reinsurance and the Banking & Financial Services law practices of Arendt & Medernach.

Emmanuelle advises banks, investment firms and other financial sector professionals, as well as payment service providers, insurance and reinsurance undertakings, insurance intermediaries and insurance sector professional on regulatory, civil, commercial and insolvency law matters. Her areas of special expertise include licensing requirements, mergers and acquisitions, drafting and review of contractual and business documentation, as well as issues pertaining to anti-money laundering and anti-terrorism financing measures. She also advises on questions relating to pension funds.

In addition, Emmanuelle assists institutional clients with criminal and regulatory investigations and litigation cases.

Emmanuelle has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 2012 and joined Arendt & Medernach in the same year.

She holds a Master's degree in Law from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Corporate and Securities Law from the London School of Economics (United Kingdom).

Emmanuelle is a member of the Association Luxembourgeoise des Juristes de Droit Bancaire (ALJB) and belongs to working groups within the Association des Banques et Banquiers, Luxembourg (ABBL) and the Association des Compagnies d'Assurances et de Réassurances du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg (ACA).

She also helps facilitate professional training programmes with Arendt Institute.

Carine Feipel is the current Chair of ILA.

She is a Luxembourg attorney and certified independent director (INSEAD IDP-C and ILA Certified).
She is a member of the Board of Directors of a bank, several insurance companies, investment funds and other undertakings.

She has practiced as a lawyer since 1994, specializing in insurance law. She spent almost 20 years with a major Luxembourg law firm before becoming independent in 2014. She advises insurance and reinsurance companies as well as other financial institutions on insurance law related questions.

Since 2010, Carine Feipel has been a member of various committees within the Haut Comité pour la Place Financière.


David Arendt is a Partner of The Directors' Office, the leading practice of independent Directors in Luxembourg, which he joined in May 2017. 

David is certified by L’Institut Luxembourgeois des Administrateurs (ILA) and INSEAD as a Director. David, whose career spans nearly 40 years, has worked in Europe and the US in law, finance and business. 

Most recently he was Managing Director of Le Freeport Luxembourg (rebranded Luxembourg high security hub), a high tech/highly secure facility for storing and handling valuable goods and Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Cargolux, the all-cargo carrier based in Luxembourg. David is a lawyer by education and practiced law close to 10 years in Luxembourg, New York and Paris. 

He has extensive experience in the fields of law, IT, corporate control, corporate finance, project management, budgeting, long term planning and administration.
