Course outline
The objective of this course is to understand the key roles, duties, and liabilities of directors, as regards the investment management function of investment funds with a focus on the risk management of an investment funds with a focus on oversight of the risk management function at the level of the appointed IFM. Key definitions such as risk appetite, risk profile document and also the three lines of defense shall be outlined
This course provides an overview of the risk management process, relevant risks, the risk-based approach and key regulations and guidelines applicable to the governance and operation of the function. It will address the differences in risk management between a UCITS management company and an AIFM and highlight key considerations for Directors in their role of oversight of this function. The practical application will be illustrated by means of case studies.
This course will explore not only the legal and regulatory aspects but will also provide participants with best practices and practical advice. The programme is designed to be highly interactive and is facilitated by Luxembourg experts.
This course is designed for directors (executive and non-executive), who want to improve their knowledge of the role and responsibilities of the director as regards the risk management function and how to effectively perform their oversight involved in risk management as well as a good understanding what is meant by a holistic risk management approach.
