Aspiring Director
If you join ILA with less than two years of board experience, you are considered an Aspiring Director. The first step on your journey to governance expertise is to take part in ILA’s dedicated training programmes for Aspiring Directors.
ILA TRAINING FOR ASPIRING DIRECTORS
- The ILA Bootcamp provides you with an overview of the key roles, duties and responsibilities of directors, as well as of the Luxembourg legal framework and governance environment. Learn the fundamentals: build a strong foundation in governance principles, board structures, director duties and boardroom dynamics.
- Building a new career as NED teaches you how to structure and market yourself as a director, including an overview of personal tax and related obligations. Understand what effective directorship requires and equip yourself with the knowledge needed to engage with confidence.
- Improving personal impact in the boardroom provides you with a communication toolkit of what to say, how to say it and when to say it, in order to make incisive contributions to board discussions and move the debate forward. Move from theory to practice and begin shaping the perspective and contribution style that boards expect from their members.
- The ILA Mentoring ProgrammeJoin as a mentee and be paired with a seasoned board member who will mentor you for one year. The mentor will guide and advise you on developing your boardroom skills and advancing your career as a non-executive director. Get help recognising the types of organisations and boards that best match your profile and ambitions.

With three years of board experience, five years in executive management, or two years of board experience combined with successful completion of the ILA Bootcamp, you will be eligible to register for The Essentials Luxembourg, which will grant you the title of ILA Associate Director.
