This session will focus on Directors’ legal duties to manage the risks of climate change to their business. Climate change has long since evolved from being understood as ‘only’ an ethical or environmental issue, and there is consensus in financial markets that it presents material commercial risks to companies, and to the entire global economy.
The session will cover how Directors can best manage those risks, in line with their legal duties. It will cover recent litigation in this area, and provide guidance for Directors on how to avoid falling foul of a rapidly-evolving legal landscape.
The session will feature Paul Benson, Senior Lawyer at ClientEarth, a climate litigation specialist with particular expertise in corporate management of climate risk and shareholder rights, and Jane Wilkinson, iNED, Sustainable Finance Expert and Founder at Ripple Effect.
