Réjean Besner was appointed Chief Risk Officer of the newly created iptiQ division in January 2021.

Réjean Besner joined Swiss Re in 2008, first in Zurich before taking responsibility of operations in Luxembourg in 2013. In Zurich, he was part of the risk management function and led Swiss Re's project to implement Solvency Il for its EEA based legal entities. In Luxembourg, he acted as general manager for the Luxembourg-based Swiss Re companies. From April 2018 until 2020, Mr Besner joined Swiss Re's Risk Management function as Chief Risk Officer for the Life Capital business unit, and with effect of January 2021 as Chief Risk Officer of the iptiQ division.

Mr Besner has more than 35 years of experience as an actuary practicing in life and health insurance and reinsurance. During this time, he has also held a number of leadership positions within the industry. He was a member of the Board of the ACA (Luxembourg Insurance Association) and the Chair of the Enterprise and Financial Risk Committee of the International Actuarial Association.

Mr Besner is Canadian. He holds a B.Sc. in Actuarial Science from Laval University in Québec, Canada and is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the Society of Actuaries (USA). He is also a chartered financial analyst (CFA).
