BAILLIE Sasha, Luxinnovation GIE

Sasha Baillie is the CEO of Luxinnovation, the Luxembourg National Innovation Agency. As a first Government Advisor at the Luxembourg Ministry of Economy, she has led the Innovation Agency since May 2018. After a 15-year career as a Luxembourg diplomat, which included postings in Brussels and Moscow, in 2014 Sasha joined the Ministry of Economy and carried out a reform Luxembourg's economic promotion that led to the creation, in June 2016, of the Luxembourg Trade and Investment Board. She also co-founded and chaired the Luxembourg Nation Branding Committee from 2012-2019 which created a national branding with the slogan “Let’s make it happen”. She also steered the work that led to the creation, in 2015, of LuxGovSat, a public-private joint venture company between the Luxembourg Government and SES which, with its own satellite, provides governmental SATCOM services for security and defence. She was Chair of the LuxGovSat Board until 2020. 

Native English and Luxembourgish, also fluent in French and German, speaks Spanish, Italian and some Russian. Graduated from St Andrews University, Scotland with a Master’s degree in international relations and mediaeval history in 1994, and went on to pursue doctoral studies at the European University Institute in Florence before joining the Luxembourg diplomatic service in 1997.
