Biography

Philippe is an accomplished non-executive director with extensive board experience across Europe and Asia in financial services (insurance, asset management, real estate) and non-profit organizations. He currently serves as Director of the Belgian Finance Center, Chairman of the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce, and Director of the Belgium-Hong Kong Society.


Philippe spent 10 years in Hong Kong as CFO Asia for Ageas, a Belgian-listed insurance group operating through joint ventures in Emerging Asia. He exercised the stewardship and served on the boards of several joint ventures, including Taiping Asset Management (China), Etiqa Insurance and Takaful (Malaysia), Muang Thai Life Assurance (Thailand), and Ageas Federal Life (India). Returning to Belgium in mid-2023, he served as Executive Advisor to Ageas’ Group CFO until August 2024, focusing on business development and partnerships in Asia and China.

Prior to his Hong Kong tenure, Philippe was CFO of AG Insurance, where he held board positions at AG Real Estate and Interparking and was a member of the Investment Committees. He also chaired the board of Aviabel, a specialty aviation insurer, and served on the board of Assuralia, chairing its Commission on Risk and Finance.

With extensive expertise in finance, M&A, business development, and corporate governance, Philippe’s career spans leadership roles in Corporate and Institutional Banking at JP Morgan Chase where he covered insurance companies, Private Equity and Corporate Finance at Cobepa (formerly Paribas Group), and Equity and M&A at Ageas (formerly Fortis Group), where he drove the group’s inorganic growth.

Philippe holds a Certificate in Corporate Governance of the International Directors Program of INSEAD in Singapore, is GUBERNA Certified Director and hold the Certificate Director Climate Journey of Chapter Zero/Vlerick Business School.

Philippe holds a Master in Business Engineering and a Master in Tax Management from Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management
