Biography

Igors Ludboržs is the Deputy Chair of the Early Detection and Exclusion System (EDES) Panel, the quasi-judicial body of the European Union. He assists the EDES Panel in fulfilling its responsibilities in the area of protecting the European Union’s financial interests against unreliable economic operators applying for EU funds or having concluded legal commitments with the European Commission, other Union Institutions, bodies, offices, or agencies. Igors Ludboržs is also a member of the Independent Advisory Oversight Committee of the World Intellectual Property Organisation.

Previously, he worked for 12 years as a Member of the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg, serving two consecutive mandates, and later served as a member of the Board of Auditors of the European Stability Mechanism, where he also served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Board.

Igors Ludboržs is an Approved Statutory Auditor in Luxembourg and holds ACCA, CFE, and CIA professional qualifications. He has a PhD in economics from the University of Vilnius, a Master’s Degree in economics from the University of Latvia, and an LL.M. in European economic and financial criminal law from the University of Luxembourg (currently finalising his Master’s thesis), and he holds certifications from Harvard Business School and the Wharton School.
